Heart Chakra

The Heart Chakra or Anahata is the 4th chakra which translates to “unhurt.” This chakra is where your love, compassion and kindness are empowered. This what the first chakra that I felt I truly understood. When describing the 7 chakras I use the heart chakra as my example.

I want to take a moment out of my normal writing structure to share my example, our heart chakras are out of balance when we don’t feel love for ourselves. When our self esteem is low and we don’t value ourselves our heart chakras are blocked. Bring in some heart chakra crystals and take a moment to focus some love and green light onto yourself, fill your soul with love. When you feel love for yourself that is how you know your heart chakra is balanced.

Many of us have worked hard to build up our walls and defenses, and it isn’t always easy to knock them down. It first begins by loving yourself. Show appreciation for yourself, and give yourself the love that you want others to give to you. Then, spread that compassion to those around you.

Location: The heart chakra’s center is located right over your heart and it radiates down to your breastbone and up to your throat.

Color: Green

When in balance: We are empathetic, compassionate and sympathetic. We are open to love, forgive quickly and accept ourselves and others. We are grateful, joyous, and kind. We are able to give and receive love freely without unhealthy attachments and unfair expectations.

When out of balance: We tend to be fairly closed off to the world around us – afraid to really let anyone in. We are quick to get angry, and tend to be resentful. It’s difficult to trust ourselves and others which proves to be challenging in relationships. When this chakra is blocked we feel unworthy of a happiness, a loving partner, great friendships, and/or heart-centered work.

Emerald: One of the most well-known crystals, Emerald subtly brings harmony to the emotional heart. By opening up the user’s sensitivity, it allows them to have patience, honesty, and understanding with themselves instead of focusing negative emotions inwards.

Moss Agate:Moss Agate encourages the user to appreciate and enjoy each moment on earth, and assists the planet in its healing as well. Moss Agate helps with depression, especially when caused by brain imbalances.

Rose Quartz: Rose Quartz has some of the gentlest energy for Heart Chakras. It enhances love on all levels (self, familial, romantic, and platonic) and diminishes the effect of negative emotions, especially towards yourself.

The Solar Plexus or Manipura is the 3rd chakra which translates to “lustrous gem.” This chakra is where your self-confidence, identity and personal power are born. The solar plexus chakra gives you the ability to rise to the occasion in times of need and difficulty or anytime you are challenged. Its energy comes from the fire element, this fire element has the power to transform us and by extension the world we live in.

This fire has power — but it’s not meant to destroy or dominate. When in balance, it’s meant to nourish and sustain us. Make an effort to recognize when you are feeling empowered, capable and confident, notice where that energy is located in your body, how you feel and the quality of your thoughts while existing in that space. Our greatest strength lies in our ability to believe in ourselves and simultaneously encourage others to explore their own unique set of gifts.

Location:The solar plexus starts in the center of the belly button and extends up to the breastbone or where your two sets of ribs connect in the center of your chest.

Color: Yellow

When in balance: You will have a great sense of control in your life, and be very satisfied with the path in life. You are joyous, and you laugh often. All things are feeling balanced: you enjoy your job, you feel that you’re following your dreams, you feel in control of your relationships. You are happy, and free from suppressed emotions. Everything is on the surface, and you like it that way.

When out of balance: You may be feeling trapped in your life – as if you’re not in control of your life. Often, this is due to a job that you hate, a relationship that isn’t serving you, or the act of living an unauthentic life. It can also be blocked by repressed / withheld emotions – the kind that bubble up and spill over if held in for too long.

Citrine: One of the best known crystals, Citrine is excellent for strengthening any mental work you need to do by promoting clarity, focus, and will power. It also provides inspiration for ideas and aides with all academic pursuits.

Pyrite: Also known as Fool’s Gold, Pyrite amplifies the energy of the Solar Plexus. As it is particularly helpful for balancing and enhancing masculine energy, it stabilizes confidence and encourages the user to take action.

Tiger’s Eye: Tiger’s Eye is a fantastic stone for courage and strength. Not only does it help you to overcome fears and persevere through obstacles in your path, but it provides grounding and protection to keep you safe and centered throughout the day.

We Are Back!

Last Monday was a holiday. I didn’t mean to, but I ended up missing our Monday email (did you miss me?) – but for real, I am completely unapologetic. The whole purpose of Crystal Bar Soap and these Monday Morning emails is self care, and sometimes that means taking a break from work, embracing a holiday, and relaxing. I hope all of you did the same thing!

Not apologizing for taking care of yourself is what I wanted to talk about today! I love when I see humans surrounded by self care. For me, self care has always been selfish, but in a good way. I love the idea of being selfish, not worrying about others, and just living life for yourself for a moment.

Tip: I know some of you might see the idea of not worrying about others as INSANE, but the truth is they will be fine if you step away for a day. Even if things go bad, they will learn how to handle things themselves.

The Good Selfish

Just like the word Monday, “Selfish” got a bad rep… but lets get real – humans are naturally selfish and there is no shame in wanting to make sure your needs are met. I hate that hearing the stories of people that carry guilt with them because they choose themselves first – selfishness (the good selfish) should never be considered bad.

The way I see it, if everyone put themselves first, we would all have the independence we need to speak our truth, share our stories, and live the most authentic life that we can.

Monday Good Vibe Quote

“Vibrate so high that toxic people in your life fall back, because they no longer know how to approach you”

― Unknown

The above quote captures so well why I believe in taking care of yourself – When you focus on yourself, your energy changes, you vibrate higher, and you end up attracting other high vibing people and less negativity.

Monday Challenge

I always love giving you a call-to-action, todays challenge is to put yourself first. I know this can be super hard, with our families and work, our happiness seems to be low on the list. Do what you can today to be first – get creative, sneak it in if you have to but I really want to plant the seed that you matter too. Your happiness should be the most important to you today!

Monday Mantra

“I am making my own happiness a priority”

The 2nd Chakra, is the Sacral Chakra or Svadhishana which translates to “the place of the self.” This chakra is all about your identity as a human, it is also often associated with the sensual side of our human nature. It is the force of your creative energy that makes life enjoyable. It helps motivate you to enjoy the fruits of your labour including good friendship, creative activities and sex. You will gain a greater sense of wellness and abundance in your life.

The second chakra (sacral) is associated with the element of water and as such, its energy is characterized by flow and flexibility. The function of the sacral chakra is directed by the principle of pleasure. It is here we are encouraged to live a healthy, happy life while enjoying the simple pleasures of our existence.

Location: The sacral chakra is located in our hips, sacrum, lower abdomen, womb, sexual organs, inner thighs.

Color: Orange

When in balance: We are open to people and the world around us. We accept and welcome change, movement – and are relatively comfortable with impermanence. We are in tune with our emotions and grounded in how we express them. When this chakra is open, creativity is available to us in many forms. We likely have a healthy relationship with our sexuality and are able to give and receive love freely, without fear.

When out of balance: We may feel overwhelmed by our emotions and have poor boundaries, making it difficult for us to feel comfortable and happy with ourselves and others. There is also a tendency to form unhealthy attachments in relationships and experience feelings of jealousy, distrust, envy, etc. Creative expression can also become blocked, leaving us feeling stagnant or uninspired.

Carnelian: Known as a “feel better” stone, Carnelian is excellent at helping us find a connection between emotions and dis-ease. The positive energy this stone emits also boosts energy levels and confidence.

Orange Calcite: One of the more popular Sacral Chakra stones, Orange Calcite has a wonderful calming influence. It also inspires the user and is particularly helpful with all creative endeavours.

Sunstone: An extremely cheery crystal, Sunstone perfectly embodies its name. It brings positivity and vitality to the user, supporting good health and promoting abundance.

The Root or Muladhara chakra is the 1st chakra and comes from the words Mula (root) which translates to support. It’s energy is based on the earth element, and gives off an energy of feeling safe and grounded. The Root chakra is all about connecting us to the energy of the earth and gives us the foundation for creating a stable life. The root chakra provides the foundation on which we build our life. It supports us in growing and feeling safe into exploring all the aspects of life. When balanced it will give you a sense of accomplishment and will make you feel connected to the human experience. It is related to our feeling of safety and security. The root chakra is where we ground ourselves into the earth and anchor our energy into the manifest world.
Location: Sits at the base of spine, near your tailbone. It goes up to just below your belly button.

Color: Red

When in balance: We have a sense of stability and we feel like our basic needs are being met. There is an overall feeling of being grounded and connected, which creates a sense of stability in the physical world. As a result, we are able to stand firmly on our own two feet without the presence of fear. From this space we make choices that promote our overall wellbeing.

When out of balance: It may feel hard to feel safe in the world, everything seems like its at risk and that can increase our levels of fear. Often, imbalances here cause extreme anxiety and/or insecurity. We may also feel disconnected from our physical bodies and the earth beneath us.

Red Jasper: Frequently used as a worry stone, Red Jasper is excellent for reducing stress and increasing focus towards any task. It enhances the determination and instincts needed for new beginnings.

Black Tourmaline: Known for protection and grounding on all levels, Black Tourmaline is also an excellent purifying stone. It transmutes negative energies within the body into positive ones for healing.

Obsidian: A grounding stone, Obsidian is also excellent at absorbing negative energies on the physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual levels. This makes it an excellent choice for healing work.

The chakras have always been a very beautiful concept to me, spirituality was not something I learned growing up so when I started to learn about connecting with my body and its energy it really kick started my spiritual transformation. I think its really important for all of us here to understand that we are all on our own journey, I hope over the next week we can learn and share our knowledge on the 7 chakras and hopefully we all can walk away with even more information.

What I want to do to start the week is quickly go over the basics, if you already know this information please feel free to move over to the Root Chakra post, and if this is all new to you please leave any questions you may have in the comments and we will make sure to answer them over this week! So lets dive in,

In simplest terms the 7 chakras represent 7 different points of our body. Descending from the top of your head to the base of your spine the 7 chakras are known as;

Crown – located at the top of your head
Third Eye – located between and slightly above your eyes on your forehead
Throat – located at the base of your throat
Heart – located in the centre of your chest
Solar Plexus – located just below your sternum and above your belly button
Sacral – over the sacrum
Root – located at the base of your spine
Now that we know the 7 chakras let’s get into the fun part. I am sure if you have heard anything about chakra than you have heard the terms, “opened and balanced chakras”. This took me forever to properly understand but I think I have a good idea of what this means.

People explain chakras as light forces within our body that filter energy, and the experiences we have effects them. In translation, I like to view them as categories in my life; heart folder, voice folder, creative folder etc. Than the experiences I have daily, gets filed away and if I don’t review what I’m collecting in the folders they become “unbalanced” or messy.

Lets create a scenario using my favourite chakra throat:

Tonight I have to go to a social gathering and in an ideal world my throat chakra will be open and allow me to speak freely, yet the days leading up to this event I start getting nervous talking with others. I find myself afraid to speak up in situations, is difficult for me to express my emotions, my anxiety leading up to this event is increasing etc. These are all signs that my throat chakra is “blocked”. The throat chakra allows one to speak freely, so when you start to see these signs its clear that there is a blockage.

Studying the 7 chakras has allowed me to gather more knowledge to easily see when my chakras are blocked. They begin to become easier to understand the more you study the them. I want to outline in future posts each of the 7 chakras and what to look for in each one for strong or unbalanced chakras.

This is only the beginning but I hope this post helps understand the terms being used and makes the 7 chakras more relatable to your life. If you have a

Happiness is…

I was reading this weekend about how we define happiness in our society and I came across a beautiful article from The Culture Mastery. The article was about “Why people around the world define happiness and well-being differently”. They conducted a survey in China to learn more about how people define happiness, Their survey focuses on three dimensions of happiness — a good mood, a good life and a sense of whether one’s life has meaning.

Reading this made me think of one of my favourite quotes, from the TV show Heroes:

“You see, I think there comes a time when a man has to ask himself whether he wants a life of happiness or a life of meaning. They are two very different paths. I mean, to be truly happy, a man must live absolutely in the present. And with no thought of what’s gone before, and no thought of what lies ahead. But, a life of meaning… A man is condemned to wallow in the past and obsess about the future. And my guess is that you’ve done quite a bit of obsessing about yours these last few days.”

So today I wanted to spend a little time defining what kind of life we all want (different for each of us). I think what I would love to gift all of you is the ability to know what you want, not based on anything else but your own thoughts. The world today is trying us to “be happy”, “this is what happiness looks like” etc but based on who’s ideals??????

Take a moment for yourself to think about what kind of life you want, how will you define happiness for yourself?

Personal Mantra

Now that you have taken a moment to define happiness for yourself lets work on creating our own personal mantra, your mantra is your saying, its a reminder based on what you belief and want to manifest.

With Happiness being our theme this week, our goal is to create our own happiness mantra. Thinking about how we define happiness create a happiness statement.

“Happiness is ______________”

Monday Good Vibe Quote

“Count your age by friends, not years. Count your life by smiles, not tears.”

I was really drawn to this stone the second I saw it, it has a very gentle energy and works to open the heart chakra. The stone Nephrite Jade is a member of the Silicates family. It comes in several shades of green and can be translucent or have black deposits in it. Nephrite Jade has a clearing energy and also stabilizes the emotions. It helps one realize the reasons behind negative feelings. This in turn allows one to purge and or transform them into positive emotions.

It will fill your life with energies of truth and honesty. It will inspire you to speak the truth with kindness and compassion. This stone will also help you create pathways that will allow people to get close to you. These pathways will attract love, luck, prosperity, and abundance as well! When you have this stone in your life, you will embark on journeys in a physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual sense.

Nephrite Jade is often used in dream work, to help with lucid dreaming, and with remembering dreams. Nephrite Jade carries a revitalizing energy that can help to speed healing. It is a stone of health and abundance, allowing Divine energy to enhance the circumstances of life. Used as a good-luck talisman in many cultures, Nephrite Jade helps open the Heart Chakra to allow good fortune to flow naturally into one’s experience of this physical realm.

This stone really transmitted its energy to me, when I went to create with this stone the scents, colors, and look all came together so quickly. I don’t think I’ve ever had a bar manifest so fast. I think that just goes to speak about how powerful this stone is. Embedded in our newest creation “Sacred Gathering”, nephrite jade promotes a healing energy. It really makes me think of family and love.

Adding this stone into your life as we enter summer will allow you to be open to the openness summer brings. Allowing you to feel free while also grounded. The blend inside this bar is also very fresh which will be an nice addition until the stone falls out and can be added to your collection.
